8/30.- Turks and Caicos National Museum

The museum offers displays from 700 A.D. up to modern times which includes the arrival of the astronaut, John Glenn. After a dizzying three-orbit space flight in 1962 he splashed down in the waters close by. One can only imagine his relief when he was duly picked up by a United States ship and transported to Grand Turk . There he underwent a medical examination and debriefing. Also on display are recovered artifacts of the Molasses Reef Wreck which apparently took place in 1513.
