27/32.- Natural Park of Ubajara, grotto, stalactites

The Grotto of Ubajara was already known in the 18th century, when the Portuguese came to the area in search of silver.

The name of Ubajara has an indigenous origin. It is not clear what it means, some says it refers to an old man that came from the coast and who lived in the cave many for years ("the man of the canoe"), other says it refers to the "man of the arrows"
