2/46.- Salvador da Bahia, Praça da Sé

Salvador the Bahia is a mixture of cultures. Its churches and colonial houses have an evident European touch; Brazil was a colony of Portugal.

Most of the population has an African origin, from the times black Africans were brought to Brazil. African influences are noticeable throughout Salvador, but there are two cultural activities, considered symbols of Brazil, where they are more evident: the Capoeira and the Candomble.

Candomble is a religion of African origins practiced in Brazil. Capoeira is a dance-flight of African origins, very popular in the poor neighborhoods of Salvador.
