6/18.- Ouro Preto, Igreja de São Francisco de Assis

At the end of Rua Claudio Manoel we find a square, Largo do Coimbra, with a nice souvenir market. Opposite the market, there is one of the nicest churches in town, the Igreja de Sao Francisco de Assis. This church, as most in Ouro Preto, is open to the public. There is a small entrance fee, though.

The Sao Francisco de Assis Church was built in 1766, and is famous for the paintings by Antonio Francisco Lisboa, o Aleijadinho, e Manuel da Costa Athaíde.
