Olinda, downtown street
In this picture you can see a view of one of the picturesque streets in downtown Olinda.
If you cannot make it here during the carnival, there are other times of the year when special events take place.
During the Holy Week, 40 days after the carnival, religious street processions take place throughout the city.
In December the
Iemanjá Festival takes place, when the goddess that personifies the sea, Orixa, is honored. A street procession accompanies the figure of Iemanjá and her Holy Sons to the sea, where the Pot of Offerings is deposited.
In December the Christmas celebrations (mainly in Lord of Bonfim Church) and the Christmas Serenades (Sé Cathedral) also take place. And do not miss New Year's Eve on the beaches, with fireworks and music.
