16/28.- Olinda, Igreja da Se

Legend has it that the name of Olinda comes from what the first Portuguese settlers said when they saw the views from here: "Oh. linda!" (Oh. pretty!). I do not know if the legend is true (probably not), but the views are definitely awesome.

In a square in front of the Igreja da Sé, you will find a craft market and food stalls. Another good place to find souvenirs is the Mercado da Rivera, in the town center.

A few yards from Alto da Sé is the Seminario da Olinda.
