Beautiful Dutch architecture adorns the streets. The native Aruban population's roots are Arawak, African and European. If you want to check out more about Aruba's history then visit the restored 18th century Fort Zoutman where the Museo Arubano is located. Although Aruba continues to exist within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, it functions independently.
