7/24.- Meknes, Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail

In order to get to the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail from El-Hdim Square, you have to head for the Lalla Aouda esplanade. In this big square you can also hire one of the horse chariots -- one of my recommended ways to visit the town of Meknes, by the way.

Once in the Lalla Aouda look for a street at one of its ends. Most probably you will see many tourists coming from there (or going there), follow them.

The Mausoleum is in front of some souvenir shops, there is no evident sign outside the monument. The gate to the mausoleum looks not very imposing. Get in, after crossing some patios you will get to the mausoleum itself. A guide will inform you you have to take off your shoes and pay an entrance fee.
