12/47.- Marrakech, Wall gate

Travelers visiting Marrakech may be harassed, but it is not that bad. "Unofficial" tourist guides will offer their services throughout the Medina. They will try to guess which nationAlity you are from, and then ask you if you want them to take you to a Mosque, a Madrasa or to the medieval dye pits. Just say "No Thank you" (or "la shukran", in Arabic).

Whenever you feel lost, or in need for directions, ask someone working in one of the shops. Sellers are usually very helpful. One of them even accompanied me two or three streets. Unlike the "unofficial" guides, people in shops will never ask you for a tip.
