Marrakech, Wall gate
Travelers visiting Marrakech are bound to be be harassed. "Unofficial" tourist guides offer their
services throughout the Medina. They try to guess which
nationality visitors are from, and then ask them
if they need a guide to find a Mosque, a Madrasa or the medieval dye pits.
Just say "No Thank you" (or "la shukran",
in Arabic).
Whenever you feel lost, or in need for directions, ask someone
working in one of the shops. Sellers are usually very helpful.
One of them even accompanied me two or three streets. Unlike
the "unofficial" guides, people in shops will never
ask you for a tip.
