In this picture you can see a local restaurant. The typical Moroccan dish is the Tajine. The Tajine is a clay pot used to cook different dishes. Some of the Tajines you will find everywhere are the vegetables Tajine, the Kebab Tajine and the Kofta (meat Balls) Tajine.
In Essaouira I also tasted the Squid, the prawn and, my favorite, the fish Tajine. Other typical dishes are the Moroccan salad (tomato and onion) and the cuscus (similar to rice). All dishes are accompanied by the local bread (fantastic). For drink there is usually only sodas and water. Beer and wines can only be served in a relatively low number of restaurants.
